Darius Hopkins, LCSW
Coordinator of the Anger Management Program & Community Outreach Specialist
Darius is dedicated to pursuing LICADD’s mission and joins the team as a Substance Abuse Counselor and Community Outreach Specialist with great enthusiasm. Darius is charged with broadening LICADD’s service partnerships to assist underserved and diverse communities. Darius received his Master’s degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University, and obtained his license in 2013. While working on his degree, he interned for a substance use disorder treatment facility where he developed his passion for individual and group therapy. Additionally, Darius was an intern at LICADD and continued to offer his individual counseling and group facilitation skills, and engaged agencies, schools, and professionals in underserved communities to deliver LICADD resources and help meet vital social needs.
Darius also holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, during which he belonged to a number of the university’s multicultural student organizations. Darius also enjoyed his undergraduate years as a DJ on regular rotation with the college’s radio station. Darius is enriched by the many diverse and multicultural relationships he shares with peers, colleagues, and mentors alike and believes inclusion to be a critical force in creating a more positive social reality. Darius is enthusiastic about the work he does with LICADD’s clients and is eager to bring the organization’s social and clinical resources to all communities. LICADD is pleased to welcome Darius to our team and is confident that his experience and passion will enhance the work LICADD performs in the Long Island community.
