LEAD THE WAY FOR...

Roots and Wings

Roots and Wings is a parenting program, Published by the Hazelden, to help adults communicate clear personal standards to aid children as they encounter situations in life that require difficult decisions. Though the program is designed to be of help to all families, it can be especially helpful to families who have been affected by a family member's chemical abuse problems, as the program intertwines vital parenting information with the dynamics of chemical abuse issues. Locust Valley and East Rockaway have used the Roots 'N' Wings program.

Drug and Alcohol Task Force Formation

Task Force formation in school districts on  Long Island is being formed with commitment and enthusiasm with the help of LICADD.  Recently a public forum for one school district produced an audience of 500 people after the task force was working for one year.  Systemic change within a community to change attitudes and behaviors about substance abuse can be accomplished.  Drug & Alcohol Prevention task FORCES will be catalyzed by 2 members of a community speaking to LICADD so an assembly of business leaders, clergy, school officials, political leaders, parents and students can become a united force. For more information regarding community task forces please call Jack Jerdan.
